South Africa  

 

Air Freight  

Freight rates are volatile and space constraints can be an issue.

 

Road Freight  

 

South Africa:

No capacity constraints, but increased fuel prices driving up the cost of road freight.

 

Cross Border / Southern Africa

Extreme rate volatility – But no capacity constraints.

 

Sea Freight  

Increased rate volatility across all major trade lanes. See below for detailed port update.

 

Durban STABLE

Weather is mostly clear.

  • Pier 1: 0-1 day waiting time — Clear weather forecast
  • DGT (Durban Gateway Terminal): 0-1 day waiting time
  • Point: 0-1 day waiting time

CFS operations on schedule. IDMs moving as scheduled.

 

Cape Town STABLE

  • CTCT: 0-1day congestion — Carrier/service berthing windows may differ
  • MPT: 0-1 day waiting time

Some wind expected with rain into the weekend. CFS operations on schedule. IDMs moving as scheduled.

 

Port Elizabeth STABLE

  • PECT: 0-1 day waiting time
  • NCT: 1-3 days waiting time

Some inclement weather later in the week. CFS operations on schedule. IDM schedule resumed as normal.

 

Africa & Indian Ocean Islands  

 

Air Freight  

Freight rates are volatile and space constraints can be an issue.

 

Sea Freight  

Vessels delayed on rotational route may result in scheduling delays. Fuel prices impacting services across the region. Vessels continue to avoid the Gulf and Red Sea, rerouting around the Cape of Good Hope

 

West Africa

  • Namibia — Walvis Bay: 3 days — Intermittent wind gusts expected for the week. MODERATE
  • Angola — Luanda: 4 days MODERATE
  • Ghana — Tema: 3 days — High yard utilisation; equipment downtime may reduce productivity MODERATE.
